CONSULTATIONS
A consultation is a full health check with the veterinarian. Whether it’s a general check up for health or due to a concern you have about your pet, consultations are the foundation of veterinary treatment.
We recommend yearly health checks (which usually coincide with vaccinations) to detect and treat any conditions that arise without you knowing. During this time, you can ask the vet any questions, and if there are any issues we can initiate treatment immediately.
So by seeking to prevent problems before they arise, you’re ensuring your pet extended health and happiness.

VACCINATIONS
Annual vaccinations for your pets are vital to prevent the infection of contagious and potentially fatal diseases.
CANINE
Canine ‘core’ vaccinations (C3) provide immunity to Hepatitis, Parvovirus & Distemper Virus. The comprehensive vaccination (C5) protects against those plus components of ‘Canine Cough’ (Bordetella bronchiseptica and Parainfluenza virus).
Puppies require three vaccinations for full immunity against these infectious and potentially fatal diseases. Puppies receive a full health check and vaccine administration at:
8 weeks (C3)
12 weeks (C5)
16 weeks (C4)
Other vaccines such as Rabies and Tetanus can be ordered and administered upon request.

FELINE
Cat 'core' vaccinations (F3) provide immunity to Panleukopaenia, Rhinotracheitis Virus and Calicivirus.
Kittens also require three vaccinations for immunity against these infectuous and potentially fatal diseases. Kittens receive a full health check and vaccine administration at:
8 weeks (F3)
12 weeks (F3)
16 weeks (F3)
Other vaccines such as FIV can be ordered and administered upon request.
** Both dogs & cats require a booster vaccination every 12 months to maintain immunity **
VETERINARY DIAGNOSTIC LABS
We have a range of diagnostic equipment including biochemistry and haematology blood machines, urinalysis machine, digital X-Ray, ultrasound and more.
We also work with external laboratories for histopathology and more specialised diagnostic tests.
GROOMING
Grooming your pet is about so much more than making them look pretty. Here at SVS we swear by ‘a clean pet is a happy pet’. Keeping their skin clean, coat mat free, nails clipped and hair out of their eyes makes for a more comfortable and better behaved pet.
If we neglect to groom our pets we encourage a variety of issues which can lead to expensive vet bills and difficult or even aggressive behaviour from your pet.

We also sell a variety of shampoos and conditioners to keep your pet's coat clean and soft at home.
MICROCHIPPING
This quick and simple procedure is not only a council requirement but also the only legal way to identify your pet as your own.
If your pet becomes lost, a council, rescue group or vet can scan them and search a database for your details. We frequently have lost dogs brought to the clinic and the first thing we search for is a microchip. On many occasions we have contacted the owners before they even know the dog is missing! Therefore, it is imperative that you keep your pet's microchip details up to date to ensure they return to you quickly if lost.
If your pet is not yet microchipped please contact the surgery to arrange an appointment.
PUPPY PRESCHOOL
Puppy preschool is a vital first step in developing a friendly, well-mannered dog. When training a puppy, we lay down the foundation for the remainder of their life; we help determine their outlook on the world and develop the skills they require when interacting with humans and other dogs.
Not only does our preschool familiarise your pup with the clinic, allowing them to make a positive connection with the environment, but it is also a vital socialisation program. The critical socialisation period of puppies is between 3-14 weeks of age. During this time, all learning is considered permanent. Therefore it is imperative that your puppy learns about new things in a safe and controlled manner to prevent future behaviour problems (fear, anxiety etc.).
Our program offers a fun and friendly environment! Your pup will learn how to interact properly with other dogs and people, and you will learn about responsible pet ownership.
Puppy preschool isn’t just for the puppies...
The program offers important information for pet owners including;
First aid
Nutrition advice
Preventative healthcare
Understanding canine body language
Handling techniques
Understanding and managing problematic behaviours (digging, chewing, barking etc)
Basic training (toilet training, sit, drop)
Flea/Tick/Worming/Heartworm preventative treatments
